Meet the Driver: Dave Harvey

Q: There was a tremendous grassroots movement by some of the drivers to get you back racing with us at TNR, can you explain what went into your decision to race with us again? It seems as if you have a very supportive wife?

I saw a lot of the guys were back and really wanted to come back but I just didn’t have a computer or anything anymore. My wife just got a gaming laptop to play some of her games and she told me to buy a wheel and get back in on the action. She supports everything I do, so yeah she’s great.

Q: Many years have gone by since our last season together, would you care to share any life events or experiences with our audience?

I got married and have a daughter now, I stopped sim racing on iRacing 3 years ago and got heavy into RC racing and I’m involved with that on a weekly basis.

Q: For those who don’t know or don’t remember, could you explain to us how you initially came to join Total Nonstop Racing in the Nr2003 days?

Not really sure honestly. If I had to guess it would be from Chris Darling suggesting it to me or someone from The High Line Forums.

Q: Not many people know this and I’m pretty sure the statute of limitations has passed but you helped me win my first ever TNR race at Eldora. Can you explain your reasoning behind giving me the win? Did you feel sorry for me? I hope the sanctioning body doesn’t take one of my few wins away.

I totally forget, I don’t usually give people wins, so I’ll say you earned it fair and square. (Editors note: Don’t let him fool you, he let me win. Went high in 3-4 and let me sneak by. Dave is a great guy and knows I’m not contending for wins all that often)

Q: I know you said that you bought a new wheel in the hopes of running with us this season, what are the expectations for your #77 team in these next 7 races?

I want to get better every week. I think I got the feel back for the most part, but learning to keep the fenders on it and consistent speed on long runs is the thing that’s going to take the longest time to get back. I really want to win the road course race, if I do that then I’ll be happy.
